        De hoofdafdeling Toezicht van Agentschap telecom voert jaarlijks veel metingen uit. Het betreft dan metingen aan radioapparaten, elektrische apparatuur en metrologische instrumenten. Voor radioapparaten en elektrische apparatuur heeft het agentschap een eigen meetfaciliteit, maar in hoofdzaak worden metingen door externe partijen uitgevoerd ter ondersteuning of validatie van de bevindingen tijdens een conformiteitsonderzoek. Dat zijn onderzoeken die worden uitgevoerd wanneer een apparaat of instrument reeds in de handel is gebracht. Op basis van het mogelijke risico controleert het agentschap dan vervolgens voor (grotendeels vooraf bepaalde) producten of het vermoeden van overeenstemming ook gerechtvaardigd is. Zo draagt het agentschap bij aan level playing field in de Europese interne markt en waarborgt het agentschap de betrouwbaarheid van deze producten voor de eindgebruiker.
